Another poem/very short story by Yao Lu
Marriage
They met when they were young,
In the beginning, passion is the sea that never dries up,
The waves are kissing the shore endlessly.
Middle-aged men release their emotions by cigarettes,
Smoke rises from the chimney,
E-cigarettes cannot replace it.
She opened the window and complained about the pungent smell in the room,
mixed with citrus perfume, sweat…
He never complains. At least not complaining in front of her,
The most unbearable thing was the noise she made while chewing food.
He likes to be a single man
Throwing kisses at young girls,
Seeing them turn their faces away, the red cloud climbed up on their faces —
Happy secret.
Most people think
he is an excellent husband or a kind father,
As long as she pretends not to know it,
their hearts are still closely connected.
In the eyes of everyone, happiness still follows her.
I have read the poem by Yao Peck Lu numerous times. This amazing poem keeps me wondering as each time, the words seem to say something different. Lovely and mysterious for me. Thank you Yao! I will continue to wonder with different interpretations, until one day you tell me more. Denise
